Todd Smith

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that has been an inspiration to Todd Smith ever since he watched Royce Gracie fight to victory in the early years of Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is now a student of the three time UFC champion and, twelve years into his training, he is well on his way to achieving a black belt from the honourable Gracie family. BJJ is a gentle, flowing and technical style that requires a strong mind/ body connection and clever strategy, and Todd’s skill in this sophisticated art is exceptional.

Todd started competing in BJJ at age 25 and his impressive record includes 30 gold medals won in Canada and the US. He has since retired from competition and has trained numerous students to become Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts champions. Todd is also a BCRPA certified fitness trainer and has trained many athletes to challenge their physical prowess, and improve their strength and conditioning.

Todd’s goal is to help students develop their mental, physical and technical Jiu-Jitsu skills by combining principles of modern fitness training with elements of traditional martial arts. He believes in attention to detail and encourages practical and effective movement in techniques as well as training in a supportive, fun environment.
